You are invited to join our parade on Friday night, October 3 to kick off the 12th Annual Rock Around the Clock Festival. The parade will begin at 7 PM and go down Congress Street from Evans to Moultrie Streets. Winners of the Rock Around the Clock beauty pageant will also be in the parade.

LINE UP - 6 PM, Evans Street between Hwy 200 and Congress St. Participants should come in from Hwy 200 and line up along the curb. Name signs along the curb will indicate your place in the parade.

Political candidates are invited to participate in the parade. After the parade, we have scheduled a Karaoke contest followed by a street dance.

There is no charge to participate in the parade, however, you must register no later than September 29, 2008. Mail Registration forms to the Chamber office, PO Box 297, Winnsboro, SC 29180. FAX 803 712-2996.

Car Show Information

The Car Show will be located on South Congress St, between Liberty and Moultrie. Access from Moultrie St.& US Hwy 321 Bus
1-26 to Newberry, Exit 74, SC Hwy 34E to US 321 Bypass turn right. 1st light (Moultrie) turn left, right at fork at Bank of Ridgeway to Congress St, US 321 Business

I-77 from Columbia, Exit 34, SC Hwy 34W to US 321 Bypass, turn right, stay right lane to Bus 321 Business. Continue to 1st light in town.

I-77 from Charlotte, Exit 48, SC Hwy 200 to US Hwy 321 Bus (first stop) turn left. 1st light, College, turn right to Vanderhorst, turn left. Continue to 3rd street (Moultrie), turn left 1 block to Congress St

I-20 from Columbia, Exit 68, Fairfield Rd US Hwy 321 N, to south Winnsboro. South Winnsboro, stay right at 1st stop light (facing Bilo grocery) to turn right on to US Hwy 321 Bus. Continue to 1st light in town.

Car Show registration is from 8AM til 11AM, early registration fee is $18.00, day of registration is $20.00

The pageant is open to males, ages 0-10, & females, ages 0-21, with winners chosen in each age and gender category. Winners of the "Miss" and "Teen Miss" are required to ride in the Festival parade on October 2, 2009, the Ridgeway Christmas and Winnsboro Christmas parades in December. If the winner cannot ride, the title will be relinquished to the 1st runner up. Previous winners cannot compete in the same age category.

"Most Photogenic" Contest
(Optional - All Age Groups)
The entry fee for the "Most Photogenic" contest in $5 per photo. Photo&'s should either be black and white or color and no larger than 5x7 (no frames). These photos must be sent with the registration form or taken to the Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce office in the Town Clock.The photos must be received no later than September 21, 2008.The winners will be announced ad the end of the pageant with the rest of the winners.The winners will receive a silver picture frame.

Judging Guidelines & Information

  • Completed Entries and fees must be received by the Chamber by September 21, 2009;
  • The pageant is open to contestants outside Fairfield County;
  • Two categories for judging: Sports/Casual wear and Party/Sunday wear. Sports/Causal wear does not include bathing suits or skimpy attire.
  • Party/Sunday wear may include dressy, pageant or evening wear. Must be age appropriate.
  • Attire must be tasteful and age appropriate for the pageant;
  • No make up on contestants 0-4 years. Lip gloss, light mascara & blush are allowed (not required) on ages 5-10 years. Age appropriate make up ages 11 & up. No artificial hair (wigs, falls, hair extension, etc.) or eyelashes allowed in any age group.
  • Contestants will be judged on style, attitude, and poise;
  • An adult may carry or escort contestant age of 4 or younger.
  • All contestants must be on time and ready to go on stage when scheduled;
  • Any contestant who is tardy, may not be allowed to participate;
  • Only one person is allowed in the dressing room for each contestant; others who wish to observe the competition must pay the admission fee of $5 per person.
  • Decision of the judges is final;
  • Winners will be asked to stay after the pageant for pictures.
  • Fees are non-refundable.

Practice session
There will be no formal rehearsal. However, contestants who wish to see the stage set up, familiarize themselves with arrangements and the facilities and/or walk on the stage, may do so on Friday evening between the hours of 6-7:30. All contestants should use the door facing Independent Road, by the tennis courts.

Requirement of Winners
Winners of "Miss" and Teen Miss" are required to ride in the Festival parade on October 2, and be introduced from the main stage at the beginning of the street dance. Winners are also required to ride in the Winnsboro and Ridgeway Christmas parades in December. If the winner is unable to meet this obligation, she will relinquish the title and the 1st runner up will be designated as title holder.

Winners, ages 8 and up, are required to ride in the Festival parade on Friday, October 2, 2009 and be introduced from the main stage following the parade. Very young children must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older. Release form/permission slips must be signed by the contestant (if 18 or older) or a parent or guardian if the winner is less than 18 years of age.

Winners, ages 8 and up are expected to ride in the Winnsboro and Ridgeway Christmas parades. Ridgeway parade is the first Sunday in December at 3 PM, Winnsboro date has not been determined.
