Fun activities abound for al1 ages in Fairfield County Fairfield County offers a wide variety of recreation for both residents and tourists. Winnsboro and Ridgeway have brochures directing walking tours that pass historic locations in the town. Each location is briefly described. The brochures are available at the Chamber of Commerce and at businesses. Mini-parks are located throughout the county.
A downtown festival was held for the first year downtown Winnsboro in September 1997.
Mid September the Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce hosts the "Rock around the Clock Festival." Held in Downtown Winnsboro with entertainment, food, antique cars, it is a celebration of life and times in Fairfield County.
In early fall, the Sheriff's department sponsors Sheriff's Family Day. The day is filled with free fun activities and refreshments, exhibitions and entertainment with a special focus on crime and drug abuse prevention.
Christmas parades are held each year in Winnsboro and Ridgeway. Ridgeway's parade is free for all entries, while Winnsboro's parade has a small entry fee.
The museum has a candlelight open house during the Christmas season.
The South Carolina Railroad Museum runs a Santa Claus train on Thanksgiving weekend, the first weekend in December, and the Easter Bunny Eggspress at Easter.
